The fourth quarter capped yet another stellar year for US stocks. Large US stocks gained 6.6% for the quarter and ended the year with a 21.7% total return. We also recommended in the letter that you consider adding a security freeze on your credit accounts with each of the three main agencies. You no doubt have heard about the Equifax data breach. News of the breach coincided with the formation of Hurricane Irma, so you may not have given it much priority. It is estimated that 143 million Americans could have been impacted by the breach, affecting nearly everyone that has a credit file.
